Aumenta Solutions, MSI, Jelurida Partner for Blockchain-Based Port Infrastructure Maintenance Platform

Aumenta Solutions and MSI’s port infrastructure maintenance project is based on the Ardor blockchain and makes use of augmented reality technology.

The TECNIO Centre EASY research group’s Aumenta Solutions, an augmented reality solution provider for industry, engineering and architecture professionals, has partnered with shipping company MSI and blockchain development and maintenance firm Jelurida to transform the port infrastructure maintenance industry. The collaboration will incorporate blockchain technology and augmented reality to provide real-time maintenance data sharing, increase efficiency and reduce system downtime.

TECNIO Centre EASY is a research group from the Spanish University of Girona that in 2020 joined in an INNOTEC project to develop a blockchain-based real-time maintenance system for use in the shipping industry. The project’s goal was to increase the efficiency and traceability of industrial maintenance operations.

The collaboration between Aumenta Solutions and MSI is targeted at the port infrastructure industry, an industry whose compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2021 to 2030 is placed at 4.9%. The market was valued at $148.1 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $243.1 billion by 2030.

Aumenta Solutions and MSI’s port infrastructure maintenance project is based on the Ardor blockchain and makes use of augmented reality technology. Through the platform, maintenance workers will have access to digital information such as schematics and maintenance manuals. The platform will also help workers to identify and resolve issues in real time, improving the speed and accuracy of maintenance.

Francisco Sarrias from Jelurida Swiss SA stated:

“The use of AR technology is a game-changer for maintenance in the port construction and asset management industry. It allows maintenance workers to access real-time digital information, improving efficiency and reducing downtime. We are excited to introduce this new technology to the industry and help drive innovation in maintenance processes.”

In addition, to ensure that all tasks are done on-site and within the expected timeframe the project’s certification program will make use of AR images certified by the Ardor blockchain.

“The certification program is an important component of the project, ensuring that maintenance tasks are done properly at the right place and at the right time,” states Aumenta Solutions Managing Partner Pere Roset.
